Rejuvenating your mental health by engaging in activities you love.

In this busy schedule of ours we often tend to forget or neglect our state of mental health. Mental health is an essential part of our overall wellbeing and it plays a vital role in our ability to live a fulfilling life. In this era of modern living stress is very common for people and it can manifest into different forms such as anxiety, depression or rage. Nowadays all the social media platforms lack awareness content that addresses the importance of mental health or ways it could be healed. However, there are many ways to rejuvenate your mental health by engaging in activities that you love doing, it can help you to uplift your mood, reduce the stress level and in this Blog we will explore how the idea can help you.

Firstly, we have to get one fact out in the open that stress is inevitable suffering and it is a part of our life because as we live life happens and thus stress. However, it is important to note that everyone experiences stress differently so it is essential that we take our time and find our own coping strategies by going through this blog. There are many different proven ways to heal your mental health such as meditating, selfcare, limiting use of social media etc. But, what I believe is most effective is healing through engaging in activities that you love doing. First and foremost, we have to figure out what interests us and makes us happy. This task has to be something that excites you and would make you crave for more. After figuring out the activity, you have to find or make a spot in your schedule where you can do the activity without any interruptions. Secondly, to make it as effective as possible you have to make sure that it turns into a habit and I do not expect you to be regular from day one rather it is a slow process that you need to built up slowly "It does not matter how slow you go as long as you do not stop". Most importantly be kind to yourself, do not force yourself to love any activity, it should come naturally and it's common for people to not have any activities in their life that they love doing and it's okay you could always just explore however you should never stop until you find an activity. Nevertheless, the question still remains how will this actually help you to heal your mental health so I will be using examples from my personal life to explain in the following paragraph.

There are many activities that I do mostly on a daily basis which have helped me throughout many years to heal my mental state and basically enjoy life, although there are hard times but the activities have made them easier to bear.

Firstly, the most impactful activity that I started was going to the gym it helped me in many ways

  • Reducing stress: Gym has proven to reduce stress level among many test subjects and I'm glad I started as it obviously has positive health effects. Most importantly I love to go to the gym, I love looking at my body as it passes through heavy sets and gets pumped accordingly, when you do something you enjoy the process of, it can shift your focus away from the source of stress allowing you to calm down and de-stress.
  • Boosting mood: when I started gym I was very healthy and had very little muscle mass but as I continued for years my body slowly changed. This process made me proud of myself and made me committed to fitness and exercising. These referring to an activity that you find pleasurable which can boost your mood and make you feel good also can lead to increased positive emotions, satisfactions, accomplishments and commitments.
  • Building confidence: You may assume I'm going to talk about the physical aspect which is a result that eventually comes through, any activity you do you will get a result. But rather the part where as I go to the gym on a daily basis, I complete a task and this sense of accomplishing tasks or achieving goals can give you a sense of pride and a feeling of competence.

Secondly, I try to practice photography now and then

  • Providing a sense of purpose: As I do photography and I love the process of it. It took me years of practice on the field to take decent photos with my camera and the fear of ruining all these skills that took me years to earn, I tend to practice now and then. This is important especially if you lack direction and feel aimless because if you can help yourself to get into any such activity it can provide you with a sense of purpose and meaning.
  • Promoting and connections: I tend to share my best works on my socials which have led me to meet and connect with amazing people. This implies engaging in activities can provide opportunities to connect with others who share similar interests. Positive social connections can help reduce loneliness and can provide a feeling of belongingness.

In conclusion, taking care of our mental health is crucial for overall well-being, and engaging in activities we love is an effective way to rejuvenate our mental health. Whether it is a hobby, sport, or creative pursuit, it must be something you love doing. It is very important to focus on yourself and also be kind and forgiving to yourself. One other thing is for certain that you have to enjoy the process to enjoy life for that you have to take your time and find the activity that you were meant for. So let's make time for the things we love, and prioritize our mental health as an essential aspect of our overall health and well-being.
